Young Problem Solvers’ Series – Mastering Topical Problem Sums with the Model Method
Knowing the right approach to use is the first step to solving maths problems effectively.
Our Young Problem Solvers’ Series – Mastering Topical Problem Sums with the Model Method is designed to teach students how to visualise, understand and tackle complex word problems using the model method. This approach enhances your child’s mathematical thinking and problem solving skills, which sets a strong foundation for maths learning at higher grades.
This programme is available only to students studying outside of Singapore. Class timings are in SG/MY time zone. For students in Singapore, visit The Learning Lab Singapore.
We offer an exclusive money-back guarantee* after the first session.

This programme will teach students how to draw models to solve word problems across 5 topics – Length, Volume, Mass, Fractions and Whole Numbers.
Recommended Age Group: 8-10 years old
Prerequisites: Basic model drawing skills on Comparison Model, Basic knowledge of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. Students who have taken our Fundamentals to the Model Method programme would benefit the most from this programme.
Duration: 10 hours over 3 weeks (2 hours per session)
The model method is one of the most powerful techniques students can use to visualise and understand complex word problems. Students will learn how to draw bars to represent information in word problems and solve them without using algebra. Besides learning to draw models, students can expect to learn question analysis skills by picking out keywords and identifying concepts. This helps develop their mathematical thinking and problem solving abilities, as well as build a strong foundation for math learning at higher grades.
In this programme, students will learn how to learn to draw models to solve word problems across 5 topics – Length, Volume, Mass, Fractions and Whole Numbers. All while reinforcing basic concepts and techniques including converting units of measure and learning math vocabulary.
