Young Writers’ Series – Making Your Stories Come Alive

The Young Writers’ Series – Making Your Stories Come Alive is a programme that will teach students how to use the five-senses description to bring a scene to life. By referring to drawings of various scenes, students will learn how to use the five different senses to brainstorm a variety of descriptions through creative writing exercises. Students will be introduced to similes and will be taught how to use them effectively to make their writing more engaging.

To further develop their five-senses description, students will learn how to use adjectives and adverbs to add details to their writing. They will also learn the four different types of introductory phrases they can use to vary their sentence structures and engage the reader.

For each lesson, students will be guided by their teacher through a series of short exercises to hone their writing abilities as well as analyse sample writing pieces.

This programme is available only to students studying outside of Singapore. Class timings are in SG/MY time zone. For students in Singapore, visit The Learning Lab Singapore.
