What is the Model Method?

Programme Highlights

We will introduce your child to the 2 basic models of part-whole and comparison models, and teach him or her to draw models to solve word problems involving the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Your child will also progress on learn to draw 2 sets of comparison models to illustrate simply the changes taking place in the more complex word problems, and also learn how to construct before-and-after models to represent the increases or decreases pictorially.

Session 1

Students will learn how to:

  • Introduction to the basic model types 
    • Part-Whole model
    • Comparison model

Session 2

Students will learn how to:
  • Use of models to solve Addition/Subtraction Word problems

Session 3

Students will learn how to:
  • Use of models to solve Multiplication/Division word problems (I)

Session 4

Students will learn how to:
  • Use of models to solve Multiplication/Division word problems (II)

Session 5

Students will learn how to:
  • Use of models to solve word problems involving all four operations
